Take A Picture (via Hack A Day)

[Brad Blucher and Kyle Clements] … have collaborated to create a series of works titled, “Take a Picture“. Each picture they have built is constructed to look like an empty canvas when viewed with the naked eye. If you were to take a picture of the canvas with your cell phone or digital camera however, a whole new world would open up in front of your eyes. Their artwork is constructed using infrared LEDs, which cannot be seen with the naked eye, but are visible to nearly any CMOS or CCD sensor on the market. The images range from simple smiley faces and objects to abstract geometric shapes.

I’m posting someone else’s post about me.
It might seem like ego, but for me, it’s just excitement.  Weee!

The good news:  Illuminated Landscapes has been printed and shipped!

The bad News: It’s still in transit, we don’t have it yet.

The other news:  If you don’t want to wait, and you do want to get a FREE digital copy, just send an email to:

smile_takeapicture@ymail.com

You should receive two emails, each will a large PDF attached.

One is 11 megs, the other is 8, so be sure to use an email service that can accept large files.

Each PDF contains 40 images.  They are the same images that appear in the printed version, only the resolution is a bit lower in these. But you get them all for free!

If everything goes according to plan, I will have my very first book out in two weeks.
It feels kinda weird saying that…

More info to come.

I need to learn better search engine optimization.

I spent the last 10 minutes googling myself to see how visible my Scotiabank Nuit Blanche project, ‘Take a Picture” is on the search engines.

The results were not good.

“Take a Picture” returned with just advice on photography, and that hit song by Filter.  exactly what I had expected.

“Take a Picture kyle” and “Take a picture Toronto” didn’t do any better, with the same generic photography advice I got from the first search, but this time, it was limited to either people named Kyle, or people in Toronto.

“Take a Picture toronto nuit blanche” gave me advice on taking pictures for nuit blanche.  closer, but still no trace of me on the first page.

“Take a picture kyle toronto nuit blanche 2010”  now i thought I had it.  but no! now all that came up was photography advice for nuit blanche 2010 from people named kyle.

*sigh*

note to self:  in the future, come up with less generic titles for project names.  Brad should have thought of this.  He is the word guy.

well, in case you are looking, here is a link to the ungooglable page:

A quick, informal introduction to the Take a Picture project.  in this video, I show off the prototype image, titled “smile”

9 hours sleep spread over 3 days does not make for a very coherent or eloquent Kyle.
