Venturing into the Wild World of Virtualization

Win7 and Ubuntu just wont play nice together, so I’m going to venture into the world of virtualization.

Should I go with VMware player, or VirtualBox?

I’m going to be using the VM to install win7 in ubuntu 11.10 for runing photoshop, Sony Vegas (video), and FL Studio (audio).  Those are the only three programs that keep me tied to Windows (since StarCraft works perfectly in Wine)

Also, will my machine even be able to handle virtualization? (2nd gen i7, 12 gigs RAM, 120 gig SSD)

The power for conformity

I knew about some of these experiments before, but having it laid out so clearly is rather powerful.

Fantastic little animation from The Oatmeal on why he’s blacking out his site today to protest SOPA/PIPA. And yeah, I’m blacking out my site as well. You should too.

Amazing what can be done in a browser these days:prostheticknowledge:

Command and Conquer - HTML5 Version
Project currently in beta attempting to convert the original classic real-time strategy game to modern browser based standards:

This is a recreation of the original Command and Conquer, Real Time Strategy game entirely in HTML5 and Javascript.
This page works best on Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. The images can take a little while to load so please be patient.
This is still a work in progress. Any comments or feedback (including bugs), is appreciated. I intend to develop this game further - improving the AI, pathfinding (See improved pathfinding demo here), adding more units and levels. If you are interested in helping out with this effort (even by just testing the game and giving feedback), please let me know.

I’ve added Disqus to my Tumblr

I’ve spent the last minutes installing the disqus commenting system to my tumblr page.  Feel free to interact with it, and let me know if anything doesn’t work. (Since I don’t know what I’m doing, I can only assume that I’ve done something wrong.)

Hope you enjoy the change, and this will likely make it easier for you to cyber stalk me when I pop up in the comments section on BoingBoing.

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

Posted a song. (well, more like “an electronic noise collection”, but you get the idea)

Here is a cover of “A Warm Place” by “Nine Inch Nails” that I put together back in 2003.
